My Wonderful Mother's Day!!!

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day.  Even though mine did  not go as planned, it was still FANTASTIC!!  We had planned to have our kids over for dinner, but my daughter has been sick for a few days and was not able to come over.  My father also has been sick, so after church my hubby and I went over to his house to check on him.  We took him some eggs, biscuits and gravy for him to eat.  After that we grabbed some lunch at McDonald's.  (I never eat there but we were hungry and it was the best choice at the time).  We headed home and it was such a gorgeous day we decided to get in our 68 RED mustang and take a little country drive.  I had found a quaint little quilt shop about 20 miles from my home.  Even though it was closed on Sunday, we drove by just so I could take a peek in the windows.  Will definately have to visit that place soon!!  When we got home, hubby made us a dinner of prime rib, mashed potatoes, veg. and strawberry pie.  It was fantastic.  After dinner we decided to take a bike ride. When we got home we sat on our deck and had strawberry pie.  About this time Once Upon A Time was ready to come on.  Even though this day did not go according to plan, it was still one of the best days I can remember having in a long time.  I still got to see my family too.  Hope all of you had a memorable one as well.
Blessings,

A Little Bit About My Mom

My Mom practically raised us three kids all by herself.  My dad always worked at least two or three jobs just to keep food on the table.  We really gave her a run for her money too.  I can remember one time when we were so bad (not really bad, just being kids), we made her cry.  We were all three sitting on her bed and apologizing for making her cry.  Such a handful for a young mother.  She was always the most sweet loving mother.  I was pretty much a brat and always demanded my own way.  She made me a dress one time and I wanted to wear it to school but she said no, it was for church.  I pretty much bugged her to death until I got my way.  That's the way it was with my mom and me.  Luckily I outgrew that behaviour. LOL.  I would never allow my daughter to act that way!  She was always trying to lose a few pounds (like all of us).  Fast forward to 2003.  She was really starting to lose weight.  I remember her telling me that Slimfast was really working for her this time.  Months went on and other things started to creep up.  Her back was really bothering her and she developed shingles.  Then in April of 2004 she was in so much pain in her abdomen area.  We took her to the hospital and they diagnosed her with pancreatic cancer.  She died 54 days later.  It was the worst time of my entire life.  My mom had always been healthy and active.  This really took her down.  My mom has been with Jesus now for almost 8 years and I will miss her every day of my life.   I know I will see her again.  Have a wonderful Mother's Day everyone!!
Blessings

So Disappointed!!

I am so disappointed!  This morning I ran some errands so I decided to pay a visit to my local quilt shoppe.  The one and only shoppe within 30 miles of me.  Because of my busy schedule, I hadn't been there in a few months.  When I got there I saw that the place was empty!!  What???  What ever am I going to do now??  I'm not really fond of the fabric they have at Joann's so I guess I will just have to make the trek to the one 30 miles away.  I really hate to hear of a shop closing.  But I guess it's just a sign of the times.
